Run for the Fallen

Here is the picture of the team I ran with to support Maine's Run for the Fallen. We raised over $18,000 to support the Run for the Fallen Race (August 21st in Maine) along with other activities to support the families who have lost loved ones. I was really moved by the experience.

Spring Break

Well, it was Spring Break this week and after I got over the fact that I DNF'ed (Did Not Finish) the Boston Marathon, I started sewing. So, first off, I made my favorite Honey Dress for Phoebe. Phoebe is graduating from Colorado University. Yea! Talk about a marathon! I wanted to get her a cute wrap type sweater for the shoulders. I was downtown Burlington and after many failed attempts I went into April Cornell. I was immediately cornered by an aggressive sales person who convinced me that this shrug was the perfect thing. I have my doubts. I will let Aretha weigh in when she gets home.

Then I made Aretha a duvet cover from Lotta's book with some Amy Butler Love Fabric. Fred had purchased the turquoise for a quilt back and then changed his mind. I had a little trouble obtaining the coral sunspots, but Alewives and Ebay helped me out there.

Then, the ipad covers. The gals at work who run the technology department wanted ipad covers like mine. Nancy likes batiks so I hope she likes her choices and Joanne chose some Anna Marie Horner. The Etsuko Furuya is mine. I hope their ipads will be happy in their new homes!

Ink and Spindle Quilt Top

Ben and Aretha gave me an Ink and Spindle quilt kit for my birthday. Phiona from Nido's let them know I had drooling over it in the shop and it was making a terrible mess! Anyway... I am waiting for some fabric I ordered to finish it off.

The Parents I Work with Rock!

Look what the parents in my parent support group nominated me for! Isn't this awesome! One of my parents describes her children with multiple diagnoses as "Twice Gifted." I am twice gifted because I get to do this work and get this award!

Book Club

I am having bookclub at my house tomorrow night. My old napkins just looked so beat...so I used Purl Bee's Spring Napkin Tutorial and whipped up these napkins to go with my pottery. The fabric is from my NBF at Alewives. My friend Connie says I am an overachiever. I think I am just procrastinating from taking my long run.

We are reading The Ministry of Special Cases by Nathan Englader. I hope I finish it before tomorrow rolls around!

April Fools!

I haven't been posting much this week. Do you know why? Yes, that is correct, I was chosen as a juror. I learned the first week that knitting is not allowed in court! Neither are any electronic devices. Thus, no sewing, knitting or blogging!

And as you can see, this was our April Fool's joke today...more snow! And it was my birthday! So I am showing off my two great hand crafted gifts. First of all, Joy made me this great John Deere apron which makes me so happy when I wear it because I love my tractor!

And then look what Ginger made for me! A nuno felted scarf! This photo does not do the truly gorgeous felting and design justice. I totally love it and I assure you that I was the snazziest dressed juror today in court!
